Aviation Industry Insulated Overhead Door Retrofit Case Study
Project Background: The Hangar Insulation Challenge
A major airline's hangar has long used a traditional standard lift-up door. As the demands for aircraft maintenance efficiency and environmental comfort have increased, the original door has become clearly inadequate. The hangar interior requires a large amount of energy to maintain a suitable temperature in winter, and the poor insulation of the door causes significant heat loss, leading to large temperature fluctuations inside the hangar. At times, additional heating equipment is even needed, causing considerable energy waste. Additionally, cold air infiltration during the door's opening and closing process has also caused inconvenience for aircraft maintenance work and affected the efficiency of maintenance personnel.
Upgrade Solution: Anbixin Insulation Lift-Up Door
Anbixin proposed a professional insulation upgrade solution for the hangar's specific situation. The core of the solution was to replace the original door with a new Anbixin brand insulation lift-up door. The new door's structure was optimized, with increased door panel thickness and the use of advanced insulation materials, such as polystyrene foam or rock wool panels, which have excellent thermal resistance. The door frame and seals were also upgraded to ensure optimal sealing when the door is closed, effectively preventing cold air infiltration. At the same time, the door is equipped with an efficient motor and control system, ensuring smooth and safe operation.
- Material Upgrade: Using high-density polyurethane foam or rock wool panels as the core material of the door panel, significantly increasing the thermal resistance value.
- Seal Optimization: Replacing with rubber or polyurethane seals, combined with the sealing groove design on the door edges, to achieve airtight sealing.
- Structural Reinforcement: The door panel uses a multi-layer composite structure to enhance the door's strength and reduce thermal bridges, further improving the insulation effect.
Implementation and Results: Significant Energy Savings and Improvement
Under Anbixin's professional guidance, the hangar's insulation upgrade project was successfully implemented. After the upgrade, the temperature control effect inside the hangar was significantly improved. Through actual testing and data analysis, the hangar's energy consumption was significantly reduced. Compared to before the upgrade, the temperature fluctuation range in the winter hangar has decreased, and no longer requires the additional start-up of heating equipment, thus saving a large amount of energy costs. At the same time, the door no longer has a bone-chilling cold air intrusion during operation, and the working environment for maintenance personnel has been significantly improved, enhancing work efficiency. This case study fully demonstrates the excellent effect of Anbixin's insulation lift-up door in improving hangar insulation performance and reducing energy consumption, providing a successful example for the upgrade of hangar facilities in the aerospace industry.
